The Basics
Hydroseeding sprays a mix of grass seed, mulch, fertilizer, and water onto bare soil in one pass. The slurry sticks to the ground, holds moisture, and gives seed everything it needs to germinate fast. We use it on yards, commercial lots, and highway projects across Louisiana.

The mulch layer acts like a blanket. It locks seed in place and keeps the soil damp between waterings. That is why hydroseeding beats dry seeding in Louisiana heat every time.
Hydroseeding costs about half what sod costs and grows deeper roots than dry seeding. Sod gives you instant green, but it was grown somewhere else. It has to re-root into your soil.

With hydroseeding, your grass grows right where it lives. It adapts to your clay, your drainage, your sun exposure from day one. Stronger roots. Better long-term lawn.
Our slurry has 5 parts: grass seed (Bermuda, Centipede, Zoysia, Rye, or Cool Season Blend), bonded green mulch, starter fertilizer, water, and tackifier for soil grip.

The mulch works like a biodegradable blanket. It protects seed from sun and storms while holding moisture between waterings.
Hydroseeding puts seed, mulch, and fertilizer down in one spray. Hydromulching uses a heavier fiber layer without seed. It is mainly for erosion control on steep banks, ditches, and construction sites.

We do both. On steep slopes, we often combine them. Heavy fiber mulch plus Bermuda and Rye blends lock the soil down fast.
Cost and Value
Hydroseeding costs $0.08 to $0.20 per square foot in Louisiana. Final price depends on yard size, slope, access, and grass type. Big open lots run less per square foot than tight or hilly spaces.

Clay soil, grading work, or erosion control can shift the number too. Send us your square footage and parish. We will have your quote back within 24 hours.
Yes. Sod runs $0.40 to $0.85 per square foot for material alone. That is before labor. Hydroseeding comes in at a fraction of that cost.

On a 5,000 sq ft yard, you can save $1,500 to $3,000 compared to sod. And the roots grow deeper because the grass establishes in your actual soil.
For most Louisiana properties, hydroseeding is the smartest dollar-per-square-foot move you can make. New construction, big lots, erosion-prone land. It all responds well.

We have sprayed everything from subdivision yards in Livingston Parish to DOT highway shoulders near Lake Charles. Same method scales up or down.
Growth and Timeline
You will see green shoots in 7 to 10 days with proper watering. Full coverage fills in over 4 to 6 weeks.

Warm-season grasses like Bermuda and Centipede do best when soil temps stay between 60 and 85 degrees. Consistent moisture in the first 2 weeks makes the biggest difference.
Late spring through early summer for warm-season grass like Bermuda, Centipede, and Zoysia. Early spring and fall for Rye and Cool Season Blends.

We schedule around your location and the forecast. We also avoid peak hurricane months on high-runoff sites.
Yes. We spray Rye and Cool Season Blends from November through February. South Louisiana winters rarely freeze, so dormant seeding works well. The grass greens up by spring.

Good option if you need erosion cover through the off-season or want a head start on spring growth.
Most residential yards take 2 to 4 hours. Multi-acre commercial sites can be done in a single day. We have covered everything from quarter-acre backyards in Mandeville to 20-acre job sites near Alexandria.

Speed does not mean shortcuts. Every square foot gets even coverage.
Care and Maintenance
Keep the soil damp (not muddy) for the first 2 to 3 weeks. In Louisiana heat, that means light watering 2 to 3 times per day. Never let the surface dry out completely.

The mulch in our slurry holds moisture like a sponge. Once grass hits about 2 inches, switch to deeper, less frequent watering.
Water lightly 2 to 3 times daily. Stay off the lawn for 3 to 4 weeks. Once the grass reaches 3 to 4 inches and feels firm underfoot, you can start light use.

First mow: set blades high. Only cut the top third. We give you written care instructions after every job.
Wait 3 to 4 weeks. Footprints and paw prints crush tender shoots during early growth.

Once your Bermuda or Zoysia roots firmly, it handles regular family and pet traffic with no issues.
Not for the first 4 to 6 weeks. Our slurry already has starter fertilizer built in.

After that, we send you a fertilization schedule matched to your grass type and soil.
Not when applied right. Our tackifier and bonded mulch hold firm through typical Louisiana downpours. The mulch binds to the soil surface and keeps seed locked in place.

If a major flood causes isolated washout, we evaluate the damage and offer touch-up options. We also check weather forecasts before every scheduled job.
Site and Application
Clear rocks, debris, and standing water. Grade the surface so water drains away from structures. We walk you through any final prep specific to your property.

On clay-heavy yards in Baton Rouge or Denham Springs, we often recommend aeration or soil amendments before spraying.
A soil test helps us pick the right seed and amend properly. It tells us pH, nutrients, and clay content.

We can point you to affordable local testing through the LSU AgCenter, or we check your soil conditions on-site.
Clay holds moisture well but compacts easily. Most of central and south Louisiana sits on heavy clay. We recommend aeration before spraying Bermuda or Centipede on compacted clay yards.

We also adjust the slurry to prevent puddling and help roots push deeper.
We do not recommend it. Live grass blocks seed-to-soil contact. That means poor germination.

For best results, remove the old turf first. Then we spray a fresh, thick stand matched to your yard.
Yes. This is where hydroseeding really shines. Our bonded mulch and fast-germinating blends stabilize soil and prevent washouts. Highway departments and parishes across Louisiana use hydroseeding for right-of-way stabilization.

On steep grades, we add erosion blankets for extra hold.
Yes. We stabilize ditches, retention ponds, and swales with erosion-control Rye and Bermuda blends plus heavy tackifier.

Works well for parish road projects, commercial properties, and rural land that needs solid vegetative cover on water-adjacent slopes.
We do both. Subdivision yards in Lafayette one day, DOT highway shoulders in Lake Charles the next. We adjust seed blends and application rates for residential beauty or commercial durability.

DOT spec seed mixes available when the project calls for it.
New construction is one of our biggest categories. We stabilize graded soil with fast-germinating Bermuda or Cool Season Blends before inspections and move-in.

For full subdivisions, we handle erosion control applications that meet local building codes and stormwater requirements.
Grass and Seed Selection
Bermuda, Centipede, and Zoysia for warm-season lawns. Rye and Cool Season Blends for quick cover, winter color, or shade.

We pick your seed mix based on soil type, sun exposure, traffic, and what the lawn needs to do. Right grass, right spot. That is the difference.
Yes. We use shade-tolerant Cool Season Blends for yards under live oaks or pine canopy. Full-sun Bermuda and Zoysia need open sky, but we blend the right seed ratio for your specific light conditions.
No. Our bonded mulch actually blocks weed seeds better than bare-soil dry seeding. It covers exposed dirt so weeds cannot get started.

Once your Bermuda or Zoysia fills in thick, it naturally chokes out weeds. Keep mowing at the right height and water consistently.
Working With Us
Louisiana Hydroseeding serves every major city and parish in the state. Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Shreveport, Lafayette, Lake Charles, Alexandria, Monroe, Houma, and everywhere in between.

Send us your address and we will confirm availability.
Yes. We use non-toxic seed, organic mulch, and safe fertilizer. No harmful chemicals. Keep pets and kids off for 2 to 3 weeks while grass establishes.

After that, it is a family-friendly lawn.
Yes. We spot-spray bare patches, dead areas, and thin spots with a precision application matched to your existing grass.

Great for drought damage, high-traffic wear, or anywhere the lawn has thinned out.
We come back, check your soil and watering, and provide free touch-up sprays if needed.

Uneven germination is usually a watering issue. We help you figure out the cause and fix it.
DIY kits exist, but the results are not close. Consumer tanks cannot match the pressure and coverage of commercial equipment. Professional application means better seed-to-soil contact, correct mulch thickness, and even tackifier coverage.

That is what makes the difference between a patchy lawn and a thick one.
We stand behind our work. Follow our watering guidelines and your lawn will establish.
